What are consolidator fares?

They are ways for full service airlines to sell  excess capacity ( empty seats).

The airlines cannot on one hand sell you publicly published fares and on the other hand discount the same seats. 

Thus the role of consolidator fares. To help airlines legally and unofficially fill up those seats with very deep discounts.

  • Most often with only a 2 day advance purchase requirement. 
  • Full mileage credit.

In some cases these fares are so low they might not allow upgrades or mileage accrual.
